80. Transparenting the Dark Side
Layout Style: S2 Flexible Squares
Features: Transparent Entries and Sidebar, large background image, rounded userpics
Layout Width: 1000px

Click here for fonts and font tutorial (Members Only)
Capture it, Dancing Script OT, Lilly, Celtic

Images As They Appear In Coding:

Body Background: I just used a large image around 1800-2000 width.

Header Image Background: The header image is just a transparent image with a title for my journal.

.headerimage coding at the bottom and follow instructions on the Multiple Backgrounds Tutorial.

Should you use this layout for your own personal journal and find a gap at the top of your friends page please add .lj-view-friends { margin-top: -25px; } to the bottom of the coding. You may have to adjust the pixels. This doesn't appear to be an issue with communities.

More Headers:
More Background Images: Layout Lounge Site
More Tiny Icons: Layout Lounge Site

No Hotlinking Images #4 under general
Header can be changed
Background image can be changed or removed.
Credit Necessary.

If that didn't work. Comment.

Beautiful layout! I've bookmarked for future use. :)

(Your link for 'more background images: layout lounge site' leads to a 404, btw.)

That is a bummer on the link. It is supposed to go here...

Those aren't full page ones though.

Glad you like the layout.

The one thing with the layout that list tags is if you have plenty tags you have to scroll down forever to get to the next page navigation buttons. I know there's a way to put them inside a scrolling list a tutorial on that would be nice. hope it's something simple that can be done with just a couple lines of code!?

I can't help it ;)

I am really liking this but I am worried about the background. I want to use a Hawaii Five-0 cast poster/wallpaper but don't know how to integrate this in with the layout?

Hope you can help? :-)

If the image is a wallpaper you can add it to the body section at the very beginning of the code between the ( ).
background-image: url(Journal Background Image);

If you want the wallpaper to fit the screen I would add
background-size: cover;

Under this:

background-color: #999999;
background-image: url(Journal Background Image);
background-repeat: repeat;
background-attachment: fixed;
background-position: center bottom;

I would also change the repeat to no-repeat. You can see a tutorial of this at http://layout-lounge.livejournal.com/33399.html

If you are completely confused I can help you but you'll have to send me to what you need.

Let me know either way.

Hi , I have a problem/question.
I've edited this layout, mostly just the colors ^^
And add some header image and background image, but when I'd change the size, it looks like this.

I've zoom out it, a bit, so that you may see the entire layout.
Thank you !! =)))

I fell in love with this layout and customized it a bit, but I can't remove my Icon from the Sidebar or center it. It looks kind of weird at the moment.

Can you help me please?
Jill aka Jo: OUAT: Emma looking upsireesanwar on October 9th, 2013 06:52 pm (UTC)
First to add and remove stuff from your sidebar you can go to this tutorial and simply remove the option from your sidebar.

Also in coding for the "default userpic" you can add ".defaultuserpic { display: none; }" which will remove it.

To customize it you would work along the same coding which sometimes is left out of mine because I never think about the default userpic since I never have it on my sidebar.

This coding will center the userpic on your sidebar and give a little extra room around it.
.defaultuserpic { text-align: center; padding: 10px; margin: 0 0 8px 0; }

Hi! I chose to use this beautiful layout, but for some reasons I have problems changing the background...I just remove the words between parenthesis and put the url instead, but I still see that light grey bg and no images. Could you please help me?
Jill aka Josireesanwar on October 29th, 2013 08:45 pm (UTC)
Try removing the ' before and after the url. I don't think the coding for Flexible Squares needs those to work.

Let me know if this helps.
xtepigxtepig on November 21st, 2013 10:25 am (UTC)
hi! So I put the code onto the CCS thing, and when I looked at my profile, without putting pictures in yet, there are 2 long rectangular boxes on the top and the bottom of the page. How do I remove that?

it is the darker blue/grey color strip

thank you for your time

The sidebar wont appear and I cant change the color of the links (leave a comment, previous, tags etc) Is it okay if i just give you my password? I really have no experience in this.

Your works are amazing btw! Keep it coming :)

Re: Help?

I would try this tutorial.

It may help you to get the sidebar back.

Hello! I got another question here
I hope you don't mind it >.<
Actually, I'm doing some trial and error on the sidebar and I can't get the right way on how to do it..
I want the Page summary to have the same hover style like the one's in Links and Tags.. Can you teach me how?
Jill aka Jo: Movie: Captian Americasireesanwar on February 25th, 2014 11:40 pm (UTC)
I can do that or show you but it won't look the same which is why I don't have it coded that way...

Let me show you...
check it out over at workshop_rees

How do I stop the background from repeating?

Found it I was adding no repeat I needed to type it as (no-repeat) LOL!!! My image even at 2000 x 1125 is still to small =(

Happy I read the comments here I knew that image should have been big enough for the background so I moved it from photobucket to LJs scrapbook and now it's way too big!!! (T-T)

Jill aka Josireesanwar on March 17th, 2014 08:27 pm (UTC)

The above tutorial has a section towards the bottom for all the lines of coding for the background image. I would suggest looking at the part that says "background-size" (right above #6). This will solve your problem.
